Tandem (war world #1) - 5***** Amazon reader review

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling ReadingOctober 23, 2014

This review is from: Tandem (War World Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Reading this book was an amazing experience. The plot involves a vast global conspiracy with unlimited resources. And one of the main characters is a conspiracy nu always stating his quite bizarre theories. I did find them bizarre, so bizarre I don't know if I may have missed something, and it is really the book's bizarre vibe that made me read it in just 3 days. And at the ends, I'm not sure what happened. But that is find, books are meant to inspire new feelings and thoughts among the readers. It was the story as much as the storytelling that made this book unique. This is going to be the first in a series of 3 books so I look forward to reading future books in the future.

Tandem novel - SF Reader book review - 3***

I sent SF Reader a review copy of my novel Tandem months ago, finally they've uploaded their review of this first novel in the War World trilogy... and they don't seem to like where it went.

Tandem by Mike Philbin, reviewed by Bill Johnson @ SF Reader.

Well, if they didn't like the bits of extreme military-industrial-complex action in Tandem, they're gonna REALLY HATE Tandem's follow-up and extreme-covert-surrealism ride Watcher. Third novel in the series, due in 2015-ish, Kumiko will probably be hailed as a masterpiece though. I mean, from chapter one, you'll be going, "Fauns?"

Tandem (war world #1) - first review on Amazon - 4 out of 5

this reviewer seems to get the idea of the War World series and why the books of the Free Planet series are also being released in tandem.

This is a good start to Philbin's War World series and equally disturbing as his Custodian series. And I don't think it's happenstance that the books for these two series are releasing at the same time. I think we're meant to combine the hidden truths from both of them to understand the world we live in.  [TANDEM by Mike Philbin, 4/5 Amazon review]

SOME MONTHS LATER UPDATE: here's another (short) review from my horror-writing/acting buddy David L Tamarin in the States:

Mike Philbin's novel TANDEM is a pretty insane read and a bitingly argued critique of the status quo and social iniquity and an exciting story of corporate espionage.

Tandem (war world #1) - opening chapter - Mike Philbin

new cover
here's a link to the OPENING CHAPTER of Tandem (war world #1) by Mike Philbin, hosted on Goodreads.

You don't realise, as the world cruises by at a pedestrian pace, what's out there. What the real world's really like. You don't realise what you're missing. You go to school. You do your job. You take home pay. You go out at the weekends. Have dinner. Go see a movie. A football game. Drink beer. Make love. Shower. Rinse and repeat. But there's a REAL WORLD out there, a place that nobody knows about. Absolutely nobody. It's a special place with its own set of rules, plans and consequences. And it really exists, outside of the collective comprehension, such that the telling of this tale will seem irrelevant to you in a 'it ain't broke, don't try to fix it' GAE or Global Apathy Epidemic fashion.

Angie's Diary - Tandem novel excerpt - Paradise Interrupted

Book review site ANGIE'S DIARY has just run an exclusive excerpt from my new WAR WORLD novel "Tandem (a G3 whistleblower novel)".

Here's how it opens:
PARADISE INTERRUPTED
“Every life form on this Hell Planet … can be (technologically) controlled,” was the message I got. Rammed right into the centre of my skull. New word, for me, MENTICIDE: the death of one’s thoughts.  Field Notes Of Lieutenant Colonel Lionel G Fischer [ source AD]
